August will be over in a flash. For deal hunters, that means Labor Day sales will start before you know it. Labor Day is a major retail holiday offering a blend of discounts on everything from TVs to kitchen appliances.

I've been covering Labor Day sales for over a decade and some of the best deals will start in mid to late August. Otherwise, Labor Day 2024 will officially fall on Monday, September 2. While it's still to early to shop Labor Day sales, there are some good end of summer deals you can score right now.

If you're heading back to school, Amazon has Alexa devices on sale from $39. Likewise, there's a huge Nike sale that knocks 40% off select apparel with an extra 25% off via "FALL25".

If you're shopping for your home, I've found that a handful of Labor Day mattress sales have already started. For instance, Purple is taking up up $1,000 off mattress/base combos. Make sure to bookmark this page for the best deals now through Labor Day.

Labor Day vs. back to school

August and September are packed with deals. On the one hand you have back to school season. Retailers are offering back to school sales on everything from laptops to dorm-friendly appliances. However, by the end of August retailers will quickly focus their attention on Labor Day. My advice: if you're shopping for back to school, buy now so you can avoid any shipping delays. If you're making a big purchase — such as buying a new mattress or major kitchen appliance — you'll find better prices over Labor Day.

When is Labor Day 2024?

Labor Day 2024 will fall on Monday, September 2. The national holiday is held on the first Monday of September to honor the American labor movement. Every year, retailers like Walmart, Amazon, and Best Buy offer a wide variety of Labor Day sales with sitewide discounts.

What are the best Labor Day sales?

Labor Day sales are a great time to shop for deals on TVs, laptops, mattresses, and home appliances. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the holiday shopping season — namely Black Friday and Cyber Monday — are just a few months out. If you need something asap, Labor Day sales are a great time to shop. If you can afford to wait awhile, our dollar will go further in November and December.
